Are We Afraid of Hard WorK?

I grew up on a farm. Every night I had chores to do before playing or homework. In the winter it was carrying in the wood to keep the fires going as well as feeding the cows. Dad worked a second job during the day and milked the cows in the morning and at night. It was almost too much for one person.

That's the world I grew up in and I'm grateful. There never seems to be enough hours in the day to get done all of the things that I would like to do and I'm always busy. Perhaps I am a work-aholic. There are worse things to be. I've been in the working world many years now and our society seems to be split between the workers and non-workers.

Work and labor are the lawful ways of fulfilling our needs. When we earn something we value it. Why is there a growing belief that things should be handed to us? When did it become alright to be passive? When did it become cool to suck off others like a vampire?

Talk is cheap and there will always be reasons to justify not putting out honest effort. Perhaps the best one is "It's too hard". When all is said and done a persons actions count much more than fancy talk. When I listen to what someone says I'm also looking at what they are doing and what they have done. I'm looking for clues on whether to give this person any credibility or not.

What is life about? What goes on after we die? Our work goes on after us. We are justified in life by the work that remains completed as a testament to us. We are remembered for what we have done in life, not what we have dreamed or said.

Actions count and hard work is the most powerful of all actions in this world.

What is this sick thinking that everything must be for free? Why this chip on the shoulder that says I don't have to try. Today's children are getting a very dangerous message that they do not need to be responsible for their own actions. Actions don't count any more.

If something is too hard give up and try something easier. What about the feeling of pride and accomplishment you get when you have attained or done something very difficult? What about the mountain climbers or deep sea divers? If you never do anything hard you can never be proud of what you have done.
