Our Sphere of Influence

Each of us has a sphere of influence. We have friends or family that listen to us and love us. At work co-workers share the work day with us.

When you stop and think about it we touch the lives of many people during the course of a single day. A warm smile in greeting to a stranger might brighten someone's day. When someone smiles at us or calls us by name it makes us feel better. Are we doing the same for others?

Living by example is the most powerful influence of all. That means being an authentic person. It also means being free enough to express who we really are. There is an order and purpose to everything that happens. Today we experienced the natural consequences of things we have done in the past. What have we done today that will influence tomorrow in the way we want?

One of the ways to do this and become free is to turn our aspirations toward God/dess and high ideals. Another is to reverse self-directed thinking and think of others. When we expand our living beyond ourselves to include others it inspires them to do the same. When we treat others with respect and dignity we receive back in kind.

This does not mean to become self-less. It doesn't mean to deny ourselves to give to others. It means to share our success and prosperity. When our personal cup overflows and runs over there is plenty to share with others. The goal to share and promote is self-growth not self-denial.

Encourage everyone to find their own personal path through life. Allow them the guiltless freedom to be who they are and accept that for yourself as well. Everyone is a unique individual with a personal path that is known only to themselves. Only they can determine their own self-worth. This includes not being ashamed of personal appearance and natural bodily functions.

Our world has become so artificial and shallow that true character and personality takes second place to movie star looks and physique. We are ashamed if our complexion is not perfect or we are over weight. Fitting a stereotype is more important than being real. That is why there is so much fake in our society.

This is a warning that things are not right because nature is not fooled. Artificial is not real and in times of crisis the fake will fall and the real will survive. By setting examples of what is real we can use our sphere of influence to create a real world that is worth living in. When others see the quality of life we experience they will want to experience the same kind of authenticity. They will be inspired by our living examples.
