Decide What you want and go for it

Decide what you want and go for it! We learn by doing and not by wishing or thinking. How can we know if what we want is even possible if we don't give it a try?

The world is filled with people too timid to even ask directly for what they want from others. They don't realize how powerful simply asking for what you want can be. They wait for people to give it to them as if others could read their minds and know what they wanted.

Even more important getting something is so much different than wanting something. Achieving or receiving something takes place on all sensory levels of physical experience. Wanting something takes place on the intellectual or emotional levels only and is very incomplete. It is like the difference between thinking about an orgasm and having an orgasm. Even the memory is never like the experience.

When we decide on something and set out to get it the first thing we encounter are obstacles. The more we try the harder it is and it seems like we don't make any progress at all. That's because the reality of what we want is so different than our conception of what we want. The first step is to bring our wishes into step with physical reality if that is possible. That means bursting a few idealistic bubbles.

After being hit with the harsh reality of things we need to consider if we still want to pursue our goal. This is an important and neccessary part of goal achievement. Stop and think about this for a minute. Goal achievement is related to competence. When we achieve competence we achieve our goal. Are we willing to do what it takes to become competent?

Too many people are unwilling to do something that takes a lot of effort. That means they will never become competent at life or goal achievement. They want things to be easy and given to them. Nature does not work that way and it never will. Only a perverted social system will reward sloth and helplessness.

Find out how other people have achieved similar goals and try some of the things they have done. Find out what works for you and what doesn't work. Develop those things that work and discard those things that don't. Build from success not from failure. We all have things that work for us. Use those things as a springboard into new activities.

Brilliant ideas are a dime a dozen. They are worthless. Millions of people have good ideas every day. Only a handful of people achieve a prototype or working model of their idea. Even fewer can make their idea into a successful commercial venture. Getting what you want is not about having the idea. It is about bringing your idea into physical reality where it can work for you as you intend it to. Again this takes simple competency.

Competency is possible through small step by step successes over a period of time. Each small success adds skill and increases self esteem. Both are needed for goal achievement. You will know when competency is reached because things that once were hard will seem easy and almost effortless. You can do them without thinking about them even. The bottom line is that if you don't even try, you won't move from where you are right now.
